The A-4C Skyhawk for Version 7.30 and above

The plane is based on the A-4C Skyhawk flown by Lt jg Paul Galanti when he was shot down over Vietnam. Paul was kind enough to ask me if I would do a replica based on my A-4M, so here it is. At the moment it still uses the same cockpit as the previous plane, I am hoping to eventually make a new one when X-Plane's new cockpit systems are sorted out.

The Landing gear switch is on the left-hand cockpit side, while the arrester hook lever is on the right hand side. Once you've used them it should be fairly clear.

Notes on Flying:

The cG is quite a way back, which has caused a slight problem with tip up on carrier landings. The cable seems to keep pulling after the plane has stopped. Try to keep the throttle up while putting the brakes on to make sure this doesn't happen.

Make sure you USE THE TRIM!. I have the trim controls set on joystick buttons. It makes everything much easier.

You need about three quarters trim for takeoff, and full trim for landing. Also, landing is much safer at low weights, especially if you get rid of the drop tanks. In theory they would be ok if they were empty, but X-Plane seems to use internal fuel before using external fuel, so I've never been in the air long enough to drain the tanks!

Remember - USE THE TRIM!

Happy flying, and do please let me know if there are any problems.
